Late Halloween Special

I don't know why I've been soOo obbessed with scarecrows lately. I just think they're so darn cool. Don't ya think? This is a personal project for myself and I was motivated by the movie "Trick R Treat." There was a little pumkin monster kid that dressed up as a scarecrow for Halloween and would kill anyone who hates the spooky traditional ghost holiday. So for you trick R treaters/Halloween haters out there, beware of the scarecrow kid.

Frogs Unleashed!

This is another one hour speed painting that I had lots of fun with. Frogs are the coolest, especially the little tiny ones with strange yet vibrant colors.

FREE

It's great to be free and down to earth that's why I'm an artist. Be positive, let go of all your angers, and live life to the fullest. WORD! I think the next painting, I will concentrate more on texture. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy this....

Light house

Alright my friend Jeff convinced me to start speed painting to help improve my skills. So far i'm having lots of fun and learning something new each time I do it.

Andrew Walkins...

I've been avoiding painting digitally for a very long time now. And I think it's really time to get serious with it. I can't even remember the last time I painted anything like this probably two years ago back in the 113B class. A friend once told me that the next level of drawing is painting! Therefore there will be more of these babys coming your way. This painting was inspired by the great Mark Behm (very tatlented artist). You can check his blog on one of my links. Anyways, more to come see you next time!

Monterey Caricatures returN!

Big thanks to everyone that took the time to get a free caricature done. Unfortunately, my friends and I (Virgil and Jeff) won't be back because school is starting again and summer is finally coming to an end. The crew will be back, just not anytime soon. Our next location is San Francisco, yeah i'm sure there's going to be a lot of interesting people there too. I just hope they are just as nice as everyone in Monterey. Hope all is well!

Monterey Caricatures!!!

Unfortunately, I was not able to post everyone's picture because i'm too embarrassed to show them all. In any case, I really had a lot of fun with everyone being super duper nice. THe experience was productive and I got to meet a lot of great individuals. I think listening to everyone's stories was the most exciting because I got to learn about one another. I would like to thank all the wonderful peeps for the support and friendly gesture. Hoepfully my friends and I will be returning soon....YarrRrrrrRRRhhhhh(pirate talk).

Art Now 3

The turtle's one of my favorite. The colors really blew me away when I was finished with it. As for the fishes, I really wanted to capture the tatoo looking art, since i'm going to learn this summer and acutally own my own kit.

Art Now 2

Who would have thought marbleizing figures could look so cool! Leroy Parker really pushed me to draw out of the norm and I can see and feel a major difference.

friendly gesture

Jackson Dryden's probably one of the best at using a pen. He inspires me so much to move on and do my best! I enjoy using a pen beacuse it makes me loose and just let go. You should try it sometimes....

Self Portrait

I've gained a couple of pounds, so I wanted to draw myself look a little more masculine. I recently got a haircut which is really short and thought the whole look would match really well with my Africa/Hawaii necklace.

Art Now

Leroy Parker, an art professor at San Jose State, stresses that more people should draw what's hip, cool, and out of this word...He calls it art "NOW." Parker tells me that what's now, is what sells. Parker has sold his work for thousands of dollars, so I'm a strong believer.

Graphic Design Yahoooooooooo!

Okay ladies and genties. These are some designs done for my family's donut shop. It's not the strongest compared to the professionals, but good enough for the customers to read and understand. ahHhhhhH....I can still smell the fresh goodies now.

Iron Man!

I was inspired by the Iron Man movie and some of the designs from Cheeks (Sean Galloway, he's one of my greatest heros as of now). For those that have just graduated, I am very proud. I hope each and everyone of you make it big! And, congrads to Amy Rhodes, she's LIKE so cool. Yaaaaaaaaaa...

splash, sPLASH, SPLASH sha sha sha....

I'm a little abstract once and a while. It's outside my comfort zone, and I can deal with that. Being expressive is teaching me how to be free and unique as an individual. Remember gang, do what makes you happy.

still underconstruction....

This is a work in progress. School has been slowing me down it seems. Hope you guys like it so far....

Treesofgreen (snowboarding trip)

How's everyone doing? Well, I just got back from a snowboarding trip not too long ago. It was great, I had fun but i'm still a little sore from falling one too many times. Anyways, here's my most recent conceptual sketch. Enjoy everyone!

Venom

Okay here's my take on Venom.

Leo

I started out with a small thumbnail, then went directly with a pen and paper and just freehand it in a larger size.
I just like the sketchy look and feeling.

Wolverine, Leo, and Colossus

I'm currently working on characters as a senior project.

Danger

I wanted to work directly from memory and not worry about rendering. This was done in about an hour, and maybe a little longer. It is not 100 percent done, but I am going to leave it alone for now. In any case, it was good practice painting digitally.

Inspired by CHeeks...

I'm currently taking a photoshop class just learning the basics. After viewing Cheek's art blog I was inspired...

Some of my line drawings...

I was at the zoo with some friends...I tried drawing the animals, but I got frustrated so I focused on some trees...
This was in the Oakland Museum...
Drawing the skull is a great way to learn how to draw heads...a friend told me that if you can draw heads, you can draw anything...
I really like this character...It has a lot of life, I can definately feel the movement in this one...

Friday, June 29, 2007

I felt like stretching something and I came up with this particular character...I was also inspired by the sequal Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer...

If I were to name him, he would be Tom...

Drawn from a live model in my portrait class....I wanted to have some fun so I exxagerated a few things...
